The DestTest VIC20 (aka DesTest '20) solution can test the entire up to 40K of available memory in your Commodore VIC20 using the same March-B algorithm as the DesTest solutions for the Commodore 64.
DesTest '20 is offered in two variations: DesTest VIC20 Cartridge and Kernal versions.
The Cartridge version is perhaps a little easier to use (just plug the cartridge in) though it can only test up to 32K of memory (and may require a cartridge expander) and does the require the kernal ROM and a little RAM to be functional for it to start. The Kernal version requires replacing the kernal in your VIC20 (possibly with an adapter) though can test 40K of memory and does not require the ROM or any RAM to be functional.
Additionally, neither variation requires working BASIC ROM or the two VIAs.
Though DesTest '20 is primarily designed as a memory test it will calculate the checksum of the available ROMs and compare them to known revisions.
